Lengthen a Scene Without Starting Over
A clip that ends one beat too early is the most expensive kind of footage: it works, and it is unusable. The extender continues the shot you already have, matching its subject, lighting and camera movement, so you keep the take instead of gambling on a new one.
When extending beats re-generating
Re-running a shot at a longer duration gives you a different shot. If the first one already has the face, the wardrobe and the light you wanted, that is a bad trade — extending keeps all three and only generates what comes next.
The prompt should describe the continuation, not the clip. "The camera pulls back to reveal the street" tells the model what to add; "a woman in a red coat on a street" only restates what it can already see, and tends to produce a restart rather than a continuation.
Cuts are the one thing to avoid in the source: a clip that already contains a hard cut gives the model two conflicting scenes to continue from.
